Why is the ImagePlay application no longer open source?

Early versions of ImagePlay (the application) were open source. Due to changes in the application, the source had to be closed.

However, the ImagePlay Effects Library, which is the basis for all the visual effects in the program, will always be free and open source.

What happened to the old releases?

ImagePlay 0.3 and earlier for MacOS X, MacOS 9, and Windows, are no longer supported. Though they will remain available for download at the project page.

What if I had donated/purchased during those early versions of ImagePlay?

Users who have donated/purchased during the early versions, are being "grandfathered in" to the new registration system as if they had purchased 1.0, and are encouraged to upgrade to the latest version of ImagePlay.
